18:00-19:00 Concert: Sonus Cordis and Tamás Schlanger's album launch concert

The Sonus Cordis ensemble sees contemporary music not as a repertoire, but as a creative medium. Their work is rooted in an ongoing dialogue with composers: pieces often take shape through collaboration, while each performance becomes an opportunity to rethink and further develop the composition. In their work, improvisation, experimentation and the discipline of chamber music form a natural unity. Created in 2019 as an open, string-quartet-based formation, Sonus Cordis also builds community through courses and workshops. Their collaboration with percussionist Tamás Schlanger explores arrangements of contemporary and Impressionist works for marimba and strings.

The Design Without Borders exhibition is not only one of the region’s most significant design-focused exhibitions, but also a multidisciplinary arts festival of sorts, featuring engaging guided tours, concerts, and the 3,2,1 classical music mini-festival. The title refers to the musical formations featured in the series, which presents solo, duo and trio concerts.

Now in its 6th edition, the programme series will take place this year as the closing chapter of Bartók Reflections, a series presented at the K.A.S. Gallery, the Bartók Memorial House and the Budapest Music Center. The Bartók Reflections series offered new perspectives on Bartók’s work, bringing together concerts, exhibitions and film screenings.

As part of the closing concert series at the Kiscell Museum, guests will hear a selection of works from Bartók’s repertoire, compositions by his contemporaries, as well as works inspired by the composer.

Solo: Róza Radnóti (piano)

Programme: The young artist selected works from Béla Bartók’s repertoire to create a solo recital programme featuring primarily works by Scarlatti, Bach and Bartók, alongside a composition by contemporary Slovak composer Iris Szeghy.
